Part 1 of this ASPEN virtual symposium presented on March 29, 2020 addresses various structures for nutritional studies and their positive predictive value including: randomized controlled trials, meta-analyses, epidemiological, observational, and real world evidence including retrospective studies. Further, results from a recent real world study of volume-based feeding protocol implementation in surgical trauma patients receiving immunonutrition are explored in depth.
