Nutrition interventions from preconception to postpartum period and their role in preventing important health challenges
Worldwide, cases of metabolic disorders, obesity, and complications related to maternal obesity have grown, while a third of the population still faces at least one micronutrient deficiency. These have multi-generational effects and is best controlled from pre-conception. Dr. Otilia Perichart-Perera discusses new data on supplementation for improved maternal nutrition status and pregnancy outcomes such as, antioxidants increasing livebirth and clinical pregnancy, omega-3 fatty acids for improving preterm births, and myo-inositols for fertility, among others.
