Multi-level Opportunities to Improve Nutrition Education in Childcare Settings
In this presentation, Dianne Ward offers multi-level opportunities to improve education in out-of-home childcare settings. Many young children in developed countries are in day care, either institutional or provided in private homes, for up to 36 hours a week, where they consume up to 75 per cent of their daily calories. Against these statistics, we know that less than one per cent of children have an “ideal diet”, according to the American Heart Association. Therefore, Dianne Ward believes, there is a vital need to make environmental and policy changes to make healthy eating the easy choice, so infants are nurtured by providers who support them in developing healthy eating and physical activity habits.
