This program presented on January 23, 2018 reviews current guidelines for glucose management in the ICU and addresses the ramifications of chronic hyperglycemia and glucose toxicity. Current insulin administration practices in the ICU are described, including both positive and negative aspects of treatment. Evidence demonstrating how a whey-based, high protein, hypocaloric feeding showed a therapeutic effect at normalizing blood glucose levels is discussed.
