Hidden hunger in "healthy diets", Elizabeth George Jacob
Growth & Development
Malnutrition
A young child's diet during complementary feeding period can be determined by several factors including adequate complementary foods, complementary feeding practices, and nutrition services. These determinants are modeled by context-specific factors known as drivers. Both determinants and drivers of children's diet influence their ability to enjoy nutritious, safe, affordable, and sustainable diets for the benefit of growth and development. Significantly, a healthy diet begins with exclusive breastfeeding and lays the foundation for long-term health advantages including reduced risk of obesity or noncommunicable diseases.
