Nutrition & Disease Management
This lecture presented on November 20, 2014 describes the improved clinical outcomes demonstrated when peri-operative immunonutrition is applied in major surgery. The basic science about immune-restoring nutrients is presented including the role these nutrients play to reduce the risk of post-operative infectious complications. The health economics potential that this new standard of nutritional care brings to institutions and the health care system in the surgical care of GI cancer patients is also identified.
