Nutrition & Disease Management
Breastfeeding has many benefits for both the mother and the child. That is why exclusive breastfeeding is recommended for at least the first 6 month of life and to be continued as long as mutually desired. It has to be pointed out that the evidence on the effect of breastfeeding on health outcome is based on observational studies. Evidence can also be gathered from PROBIT, an intervention studies. The evidence show strong benefits for infants in terms of infectious complication, but has shown no effect on the prevalence of celiac disease.
