Based on information from the WHO in 2022, 1 in 8 people are living with obesity globally. This global obesity epidemic, or globesity, has become a concern due to its lifelong effects especially in raising the risks for communicable and non-communicable diseases, more specifically in cases that begin in childhood. Given the many factors that may contribute to it, such as the environment, epigenetics, and early life nutrition, the long-term goal is addressing overweight and obesity in the different life stages through different preventive measures.
