Nikolaos G Papadopoulos
He is a Professor of Allergy and Pediatric Allergy and Head of the Allergy Department at the 2nd Pediatric Clinic of the University of Athens, also holds Honorary Professorships at the University of Manchester, UK, and OPRI, Singapore.
Over the past two decades, he has participated in and led several high-impact EU research projects, including GA2LEN, PreDicta, CURE, and SynAir-G. He has actively served in many international societies, notably as President of the EAACI (2013-2015) and the Respiratory Effectiveness Group (REG, 2018-2020), and is currently a Board Member of WAO.
With over 500 published papers, more than 60,000 citations, and an h-index exceeding 110, he has received several international awards and is the Editor-in-Chief of Frontiers in Allergy. His research has focused on the role of microbes in allergic inflammation, interactions with environmental determinants, including food, and the use of real-world evidence in clinical practice.
Currently, he is exploring the role of the respiratory virome in asthma, evaluating potential interventions against indoor air pollutants in schools, trialling new interventions in food allergy, and leading PeARL (Pediatric Asthma in Real-Life), a think tank aimed at optimizing pediatric asthma management.
