Every year around 1.3 billion tons of food is lost or waste, this represents one third of all food produced for human consumption. Food waste does not only mean wasting money, labour and resources but it also increases greenhouse gas emissions contributing to climate change. Additionally, food waste can also impact nutrient losses. Simple measures at individual level can be taken to stop food wasting.
