- Received his MD from UC Irvine and his PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and completed pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and fellowships in clinical nutrition at Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Boston, and pediatric gastroenterology at UCLA, and is board certified in pediatrics, nutrition, and pediatric gastroenterology
- Has worked both in academia and in industry, where he was a medical director for Nestle USA, Johnson and Johnson and Abbott Laboratories
- Has edited ASPEN’s Nutrition Support Practice Manual and served on the board of directors of ASPEN and the American Board of Physician Nutrition Specialists; and
- Editor-in-Chief for the American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition’s Nutrition in Clinical Practice journal
