The 72nd Nestlé Nutrition Institute Workshop was chaired by Dr. Pere Clavé (Spain). Dysphagia is difficulty swallowing, a common medical condition in older persons. An estimated 40 million elderly in Europe and 16.5 million in the US required care for dysphagia in 2010. For best patient outcomes, dysphagia symptoms must be managed by a multidisciplinary health care team. The science-based, state-of-the art practices in dysphagia were reviewed by worldwide leading doctors, nurses, speech-language pathologists, and dietitians specializing in dysphagia.
