Nestle Nutrition Institute 5th International Course on Oropharyngeal Dysphagia
The 5th International Course on Oropharyngeal Dysphagia was held on June 12-14, 2014, at the Hamamatsu-city Rehabilitation Hospital in Hamamatsu, Japan. The practical and didactic educational course provided a unique opportunity to strengthen the knowledge and network of clinicians. The program was designed by Chairs Pere Clavé MD PhD (Spain), Julie Cichero PhD SLP (Australia), and Ichiro Fujishima MD PhD (Japan) to help participants learn evidence-based methods of dysphagia patient management. Dysphagia is a growing issue and is a young and fast-developing science. Clinical complications and associated healthcare costs arise when the condition is poorly managed or undiagnosed. Thus, educating multidisciplinary clinicians on the state-of-the-art in dysphagia patient care enables healthcare practitioners to build competencies and acquire practical knowledge to help patients live well with dysphagia.
