Annamaria Staiano is Full Professor of Pediatrics and Chief of the Department of Translational Medical Sciences of the University of Naples "Federico II", Italy.

Currently she is President of the Italian Society of Pediatrics (SIP) and was a founding member of the Italian Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Nutrition and Hepatology (SIGENP) was President of the Society from 2010 to 2013.

From 2016 to 2022 she was the Treasurer of the European Society of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Pediatric Nutrition (ESPGHAN). In 2023, in Vienna she was honoured with the ESPGHAN Distinguished Service Award, an award that recognizes lifetime clinical and scientific achievements and significant contribution to ESPGHAN.

Professor Staiano contributed to the definition of international guidelines on the management of gastroesophageal reflux, chronic constipation, allergy to cow's milk proteins and nutrition in chronic intestinal inflammatory diseases. Her research activity, led to the publication of about 300 manuscripts in scientific international journals.
