Workshop was chaired by Prof. Bert Koletzko (Germany), Prof. Sybille Koletzko (Germany), and Prof. Frank Ruemmele (France) This Workshop aimed to address and to identify forces that potentially drive innovation in pediatric nutrition, a vision which surpasses research, clinical and academic thinking.

Leading experts: Andrea von Berg; Christoph Dupont and Susan Prescott contributed to the content of the issue.

This issue of Annales Nestlé is dedicated to mother-child nutrition and has a particular focus on pregnancy nutrition with 3 papers that highlight the importance of balanced nutrition in both industrialized and semi-industrialized environments.

Nestlé Nutrition was pleased to sponsor the satellite symposia: The Role of Nutrition and Functionality in Ageing. The symposia featured J. Bauer talking on the importance of Nutrition screening in the older person; H. Bischoff-Ferrari addressing the role of Vitamin D in minimizing falls and fractures and L. van Loon discussing the important role of exercise and nutrition.

The focus of the book cover three sessions outcomes: 1st session provides an overview and focused on the association of early growth with obesity and cardiovascular outcomes. The 2nd session concentrated on the interrelationship between growth and neurodevelopment and the 3rd session considered the control and assessment of physical growth.
This issue of Annales Nestlé is devoted to vaccines. The vaccination has become the most effective public health measure for the control of infectious diseases. Authors share experiences from both developing & developed country perspective, and in a broader sense discover obstacles to and opportunities for controlling diseases preventable by vaccines.

The basic objective of the event is to provide scientifically based and independent information relevant for sports practice and build a bridge between science and applied sports nutrition. This brochure contains summaries of the presentations of the seven selected topics of the conference.

Endurance athletes know that starting exercise with glycogen stores fully loaded makes for higher-quality workouts and better performances during competitions. But this long-held tenet of sports nutrition is now being challenged. New research points to benefits of periodically training with low glycogen stores.

Conference addressed many important topics translating complicated science into practical message that is of immediate use to an athlete or coach. Booklet provides a short overview of the sport Nutrtion science and a number of practical guidelines illustrated in figures and tables and should help to form a bridge between science and practice and will be helpful in daily work

It’s now well established that consuming carbohydrates during endurance exercise improves performance for events lasting an hour or more. On a practical level, a sports drink or energy gel taken with water, can deliver the right carbs in the right amounts to effectively extend endurance. However, a question that exercise physiologists have recently been debating is whether we should also be adding some protein to the carbs that we’re consuming during exercise.
